The same rules which commit contractors to carrying out works in Kilkenny City during night time hours should apply for rural projects.
That’s the view of Kilkenny County Council Cathaoirleach Mary Hilda Cavanagh.
Speaking at the Castlecomer Municipal District meeting, Cllr Cavanagh said that rural dwellers weren’t mugs and deserved better treatment.
She told KCLR News that she was specifically referring to the ongoing laying of cable between Farranrory and Ballyragget;”And all of the work is done during daylight hours and I was suggesting that they be asked to do it during the night time, the same as all the work is done in the city at the night time because our lives are just as busy and coming into the silage season, or it has already started, I think it is mostly inconvenient for people to be delayed because time is of the essence, the weather in Ireland is so unpredictable and there’s always a rush to get silage done in a short space of time”.
