Kilkenny Council to vote on proposal for more houses in the Butts

“We need to support the local community as much as we need to provide housing”.

The words of local councillor and Chairman of the Housing Committee, Andrew McGuinness, as council members prepare to decide whether or not more houses should be built in the Butts.

A proposal currently exits to build another 21 houses on St Joseph’s Road for use as social housing.

The Butts is already the most densely populated area in Kilkenny City.

Councillor McGuinness told KCLR News that the he won’t be supporting it unless a compromise is reached.
