Kilkenny Councillor David Fitzgerald opposes roads programme as he says not enough money coming to city

David Fitzgerald was the only councillor to oppose a budget of over €4 million for the roads programme in Kilkenny for 2017.

It was announced at Friday’s Municipal District meeting that a budget of €4.675 million is to be given to the programme.

Councillor Fitzgerald opposed this, because he says only €708,000 is to go to the city area, where 60% of the municipal district income is generated from.

That means that only 15% of the money is being spent in Kilkenny city.
