Kilkenny County Councillors are calling for stricter regulations around marketing unhealthy food to children to be introduced.
Councillor Matt Doran says they’re all backing what he’s called “a ground-breaking campaign” called Stop Targeting Kids in response to the rising child obesity rates in Ireland.
At the moment, research suggests 1 in 4 Irish children are overweight or obese.
The campaign is being organised by the Irish Heart Foundation and Councillor Doran says they’re encouraging people to sign a petition to stop marketing companies aiming their ads at children.
