A new report shows the pass and fail rates for NCT centres around the country in 2016 and at the top of the list is Kilkenny.
The local centre based at Cillín Hill had the highest pass rate in the country last year at 55%.
15,791 cars tested there passed their NCT while another 12,607 failed.
In Carlow the pass rate for 2016 was 43% – 12,458 cars got the green light but more than 16,000 failed.
125 cars in Kilkenny that failed were identified as dangerous and 144 in Carlow
Clifden in Galway had the lowest pass rate in the country last year at 37.8%.
