Kilkenny Mayor to sign petition objecting to talk from Angus Buchan

The Kilkenny Mayor  has said he will sign the petition objecting to controversial pastor Angus Buchan giving a talk here.

Mr Buchan is due to speak at the Hub in Cillin Hill on Wednesday next but the local LGBT community has started an online petition objecting to his visit.

It’s been reported the South African pastor has said that gay men can be cured and he was previously prevented from speaking at an event in Scotland.

Mayor Patrick O’Neill, speaking to KCLR Live earlier this morning, says he will sign the petition later as the views expressed are extreme, and we are now living in a different world.

Renua councillor Patrick McKee has added his objections to Angus Buchan’s upcoming appearance in Kilkenny after an online petition was started to stop him speaking here.

It’s been reported Mr Buchan has said that gay men can be cured and he was previously prevented from speaking at an event in Scotland.

Green party councillor Malcolm Noonan has also voiced concerns about the visit arranged by the Christian group Together for Ireland.
