A Kilkenny mother says she hopes now that councils around the country will act quickly on the new speed limits for residential areas.
Roseann Brennan whose son Jake was killed after being hit by a car outside his home has been campaigning for lower limits to be introduced in housing estates all over the country.
Councils already had the power to lower the limit in residential areas to 30 km an hour but new legislation will now allow event lower limits to 20 km.
