Two hundred years of the Iverk Show was recognised by Kilkenny County Council yesterday when it afforded Ireland’s oldest agricultural show a Civic Reception.
Committee members and volunteers travelled to County Hall in huge numbers, where Councillors were reminded that the Show predates the formation of the Council itself, the GAA and the Grand National.
KCLR News was there, where we spoke to Iverk Show Chair John Flynn, Iverk Flower Show organiser Mauney Doyle, show historian Norman Storey and Ned Walsh (94), known to many both far and wide as “the man at the gate”, a role he has happily filled since the 1950s!
