“Kilmanagh is more than just a dot on the map” says residents of County Kilkenny ‘rural node’

Kilmanagh residents are calling on Kilkenny County Council to restore their village status.

The area was redesignated in the 2021-2027 City and County Development Plan as a Rural Node.

As councillors prepare to discuss a proposed variation to the Plan at their monthly meeting next Monday, a submission signed by 451 people of Kilmanagh will hopefully be considered.

Michael Egan is a spokesperson for the local group and has told KCLR News the numbers living in Kilmanagh grew 10% between 2016 and 2022 and for that & others reasons they can’t understand why they’re no longer known as a village;
