Kilkenny Labour Councillor says his party need to spend a long time on opposition benches

Labour can’t afford to go into government again for a long time according to a local councillor.
Castlecomer’s Maurice Shorthall says the party’s disastrous election performance is down to a failure to convince people of the things they achieved in coalition with Fine Gael.
Councillor Shorthall told KCLR news that now that they’re guaranteed speaking rights in the 32nd Dail they’ll be able to rebuild the party in opposition.
But he says they should be prepared for a long process.
