“Landmark of Rose Inn Street”: Burke’s Newsagents closes its doors for good

The last remaining traditional newsagent’s in Kilkenny City has shut its doors.

Burke’s on Rose Inn Street was one of a handful of such shops in the city which had been selling newspapers, sweets and tobacco to locals for decades.

The shop closed for the final time this week and a sign outside its doors is thanking people for their custom.

Speaking to KCLR News, city councillor, Malcolm Noonan says it’s a sad week for the city as a “landmark of Rose Inn Street” is lost.
