There is shock and sadness in Leighlinbridge following the death of a man yesterday.
The fatal collision, involving a car and a motorcycle occurred on the R448 at Ballyknockan, Leighlinbridge, Co. Carlow at 9.30am.
A man in his 40s, was brought by air ambulance to the Mater University Hospital in Dublin where he was subsequently pronounced deceased.
Supt. Anthony Farrell: “The accident happened just past the Arboreta Garden Centre on the Kilkenny side. Injuries received for motorcyclist were fatal.
The road was closed for a period of time to allow a technical examination of the scene and road diversions were in place.
