Local councillor “frustrated” at sulky racing which continues in Kilkenny

“Hugely dangerous and very frustrating” is how a local councillor has described the fact that sulky racing continues in Kilkenny despite being outlawed.

On Sunday a large sulky-racing event took place at Cuffesgrange on the Callan Road to Kilkenny which almost caused a traffic collision.

It involved up to four sulkies with carts surrounded by an entourage of cars.

Councillor Andrew McGuinness was behind the introduction of the ban on sulky racing on public roads in Kilkenny last year.

Andrew says people need to be vigilant and report any incidents they see.
