Local heroes to be honoured for their brave life-saving acts

Heroes from Carlow and Kilkenny will be honoured by Irish Water safety for their life-saving acts of bravery today.

Environment Minister Alan Kelly will present the ‘SEIKO Just in Time Award’ to over 40 rescuers involved in 24 near-death instances.

In Kilkenny, Garda Aidan Monahan is being recognised for his rescue of a woman from the River Nore while off-duty back in 2010.

In Carlow, Leighlinbridge man, Niall Clarke and Gardaí Thomas Hennessey and Donal Lawlor will receive the honour for 2 separate incidents earlier this year.
