Gardaí are again appealing for people to be on alert as more bogus callers hit Carlow.
The latest saw an elderly man answer his door in JKL Avenue after lunchtime yesterday to a younger male who appeared to be seeking money for work that was taking place in the front yard.
The local man was taken to an ATM and withdrew cash but it seems the person who was given the cash wasn’t associated with the yard works.
Sgt Peter McConnon says gardaí have suspects in mind, telling KCLR News; “We’re looking for the occupants of a black van who perpetrated this act, we’re doing to describe it as a black van with ladders on the roof, ladders on the top of it.”
He adds “One of the men that called to the house is described as in his twenties with a high-viz jacket”.
And it seems it wasn’t the only premises visited as Sgt McConnon outlines; “Now we are aware that these people called to a number of other houses in the St Mary’s Park, JKL, O’Hanrahan Avenue area of Carlow shortly after 1 o’clock yesterday so anybody with any information if they could contact Carlow garda station to assist in the investigation”.
