He leaves behind three children and a wife who says the world’s lost one of its most beloved artists.
Tributes have been pouring in from all over the world, led by the US President Barack Obama calling him ‘one of a kind’.
Efforts have been made to bring the star to the Cat Laughs Festival in Kilkenny over the past few years.
The Kilkenny comedy festival had been recommended to him by friends and he’d said he wanted to come over.
But Festival Artistic Director Naoise Nunn says the June Bank Holiday weekend was clashing with other work over the last few years.
