A man in his 20’s has been remanded in custody at a special sitting of Kilkenny District Court this morning.
He was arrested following a stand off in the Bishop Birch area of the city yesterday evening.

Gardai were called to a house in the area and were confronted by a man suspected of being armed with a knife.
The roadway was closed off for a time and the man was arrested.
He was charged this morning with public order offences and offences under the firearms and offensive weapons act.
