Old emergency department in St Luke’s offered no privacy to patients
One of the best things about St Luke’s hospital’s new Emergency Department is the privacy it offers bereaved families.
That’s according to nurses at the hospital who finally have dedicated spaces where they can speak with families of patients and where bereaved families can see their loved ones in private.
In the old facility, nurses had to break upsetting news to families in the corridors where they were often surrounded by other patients and visitors.
Áine Williams is a nurse in the Emergency Department. She says that it was heartbreaking having to break bad news to families in such open spaces.
