Operation Clave: 24 arrests, €40,000 of cocaine and a growhouse discovery
Just two of the 24 people arrested in Kilkenny over the past few days have been remanded in custody.
Along with a substantial amount of cocaine, a cannabis growhouse was also uncovered yesterday.
With 24 arrests, tens of thousands of euros worth of cocaine and a growhouse discovery, it’s been a busy two days for Operation Clave in Kilkenny.
20 men and 4 women were arrested between Sunday and Monday for drugs offences.
It’s part of an operation that’s been on-going for the past 10 months to clamp down on the sale and supply of controlled substances in the Kilkenny/Carlow Division.
17 people appeared before a special sitting of Kilkenny District Court last night.
Of those, two were remanded in custody while the remainder were released on bail.
A further 5 people had already been charged and bailed earlier that day to reappear at a later date.
Over €40,000 worth of cocaine was seized on Sunday evening, while yesterday a cannabis growhouse was discovered in North County Kilkenny.
The operation is a joint one between the local drugs unit and the Drugs and Organised Crime Unit.
