The Office of Public Works refused a recording request at one local heritage site last year.
There are strict film and photography procedures in place at all OPW operated properties across the country, details of which are available on their website.
It was revealed this week that about 500 submissions were lodged for various spots that fall under the body’s care with turn-downs including the filming of The Traitors Ireland on the Hill of Tara where filming close to the ceremonial burial ground was deemed to be not suitable to the site.
A spokesperson for the OPW told KCLR News that they can confirm they refused one application in Kilkenny and none in Carlow.
They’ve not specified why or which site they refer to but the spots in the county under their remit include Kilkenny Castle, Dunmore Caves, Kells Priory, Jerpoint Cistercian Abbey, St Mary’s Church Gowran, Aghaviller Round Tower & Church, Burnchurch Castle and Turret, Killamery High Cross, Kilmogue Portal Tomb, Knocktopher Church, Sheepstown Church, Tullaroan Church and Ullard Church.
Added to the list in Carlow are Altamont Gardens, Brownshill Portal Dolmen, Carlow Castle and Saint Mullins Ecclesiastical Village.
