Parents of students at Muinebheag vocational school will be briefed later on the plans to close it.
Last Thursday it emerged the school wont be taking any new enrolments from September and will shut its doors at the end of the school year in 2018.
The details are contained in a letter received by families on Friday which also invites them to attend a meeting at the school to have any questions they might have answered.
Parents of those in the junior cycle will meet with the school principal tonight, while those in the senior cycle will meet tomorrow night.
Since the announcement was made on Thursday, a petition to keep the school open has surfaced online with over 800 signatures.
Fine Gael TD Pat Deering has vowed to meet with those directly involved to prevent the school from closing.
While Fianna Fail Councillor Jennifer Murnane O’Connor said she wants to meet with Jan O’Sullivan about the issue.
