Paulstown Boxing Club’s Emma Keating has been confirmed as one of the 18 IABA 2025 National Intermediate champions, following competition at the National Stadium in Dublin over the weekend.
Keating, aged 20, recorded a unanimous decision win over Annie Hewitt of Liberty BC in Wicklow. The Intermediate Championships saw more than 140 boxers entered from clubs across the country, with over 120 bouts taking place across five days.
The Intermediate grade is regarded as the second tier of senior boxing in Ireland and is often a pathway into elite-level competition. Kilkenny boxers such as Darren O’Neill (Paulstown BC) and Claire Grace (Callan BC) have previously progressed through this level.
Keating’s win adds to a productive year in which she has secured:
-
Gold at the Portimao Box Cup in Portugal
-
Under-23 national honours
-
Multiple appearances for Ireland at underage level
Paulstown Boxing Club has also reported a strong season, with members winning:
-
7 Leinster titles
-
5 National titles
-
13 medals at the Portimao Box Cup international tournament
