David Heffernan was born and reared in Kilkenny, living his early life on John Street.
On leaving school he got his first job in Padmore Barnes (otherwise known as “The Boot Factory”). Following a further job in the private sector he joined the former South Eastern Health Board, helping to establish vocational training workshops as part of the mental health services.
David is widely known as a skilled and experienced performer in musical theatre, making his first appearance in 1982. He’s also an award winning director and has appeared in Kilkenny and other counties throughout his theatrical career.
He’s appearing in the annual panto in the Watergate Theatre Kilkenny and he took time out of final rehearsals to come in for a chat the other day.
