Postcode-lottery for breast cancer prosthesis allowance with the rate appearing higher in Carlow and Kilkenny than in other counties

Breast cancer survivors want equality across the country.

So says the owner of a business who looks after women around the country post-mastectomy, fitting and supplying bras and specialist swimwear for those with breast prothesis.

Valerie Murphy, who is Limerick based, has been highlighting what is effectively a postcode-lottery when it comes to the allowance for prosthesis with some women being offered as little as €68 and others getting up to €250.
