Put your phone away is the message for drivers today
Local GardaĆ say they've noted an increase in people using their phones while driving

A plea has been made by local GardaĆ for drivers to put their phones away and give the road their full attention.
The Traffic Inspector for the Kilkenny-Carlow division says there’s been a notable increase in the number of crashes where a driver has only had one hand on the steering wheel and a phone in the other.
Inspector Anthony Farrell says there has been a 6% rise in Kilkenny and a 13% rise in Carlow in road collisions where material damage is caused and he says using a mobile phone with just one hand on the steering wheel is among the reasons for that increase.
Inspector Farrell is reminding people there are penalties if you are caught including a fixed charge notice and penalty points.
