Refurbished Lacken Boardwalk will reopen this afternoon

Lacken Boardwalk is to reopen this afternoon.

The Kilkenny City walkway which completes the loop from Canal Square to the Dublin Road, was closed while works took place – those have now been completed with just some landscaping to be continued early next year.

Frank Stafford senior engineer with the County Council told KCLR News it was an environmental friendly project; We used household waste, plastic waste, plastic bottles to re create the boardwalk. There will be the planting of 2,500 trees in early 2025 to complete the project.
