Carlow were narrowly beaten by Wicklow, 2-14 to 2-18, in the Division 4 Allianz Football League at Echelon Park, Aughrim last weekend.
Speaking to KCLR after the match, Carlow manager Shane Curran praised his side’s display of effort, despite the disappointing result.
“Disappointed, obviously, with the result, but sometimes results can camouflage performances. The performance today was excellent. I’m really, really happy with the lads, they were terrific from the get-go.”
The Carlow manager reflected on his team’s struggles in the second half, highlighting it as a key issue that has cost them in recent games.
“They got two goals in the second half, which brought them over the line. It’s something we’re going to have to rectify- the second half, that’s the third game in a row now that we’ve conceded a goal just after halftime.”
Looking ahead to their next match against Longford in Netwatch Cullen Park on March 15th, Shane Curran expressed hope that his team can replicate today’s performance.
“Very, very proud of the lads. I’m proud of the way they played, and if we can bring that energy, enthusiasm and honesty to our game going forward we’ll be in a good place.”
