Search of River Barrow in Carlow Town called off

Nothing was found and nobody was reported missing

A major multi-agency search in Carlow Town was called off last night.

GardaĆ, fire and Civil Defence personnel were called to the River Barrow after claims that somebody was seen “bobbing” in the waters.

It’d initially been thought a child swimmer had gotten into difficulty close to Graigue Bridge at about 7pm.

Two units of County Carlow fire and rescue service were dispatched and involved in the extensive search, but nothing was found and nobody has been reported missing.

There were two further ‘sightings’ which were investigated but it seems these were instead of floating debris.

A spokesperson’s told KCLR News that the search was called off just before 10pm.
