A Carlow Councillor has hit out at Independents after they agreed to join a pact to control the new council.
Sinn Fein’s John Cassin says Independents have proved that they are not independent at all.
His comments come after a group of Carlow councillors agreed a pact to control the council.
The group comprises the six Fine Gael members, two from Labour and two independents Walter lacey and Charlie Murphy.
A deal was hammered out on Thursday night by ten of the 18 councillors.
The pact will see a power sharing agreement for the 5-year life of the council.
