A Carlow girl has to raise over half a million euro in just five weeks for her cancer treatment.
18-year-old Shauntelle Tynan has now gone through 5 different treatments for Hystiocytosis X which haven’t worked – two of them were in Texas.
Shauntelle is currently in hospital in Dublin, having gone through surgery to relieve pressure on her kidneys and other affected organs.
An online fundraiser called Shades for Shan has been launched and a go-fund-me page where people can donate money to get her back out to Texas for new treatment.
Speaking to KCLR News today, Leona says they’re under no illusions about how difficult it will be to raise 527,000 euro in just a few weeks.
