It’s hoped a 28-acre site outside Bagenalstown which has been sold will be used to bring more people to the area.
The site of the former factory, Fair Oak Foods, at the Royal Oak, was sold a number of weeks ago to a developer – believed to be from Carlow.
The business closed down in 2005 with the loss of 40 jobs.
It’s not yet known what the plans for the site are.
Councillor Denis Foley says the Royal Oak is an attractive place to develop.
