A local councillor has criticised the levels of communication given by Bus Eireann to local communities, after alleging that local, government-sponsored routes are not being adhered to.
Fine Gael Cllr. Pat Dunphy made the claims at the recent Piltown Municipal District Meeting, noting that in some cases, buses are turning up late, or not at all.
He claims that local representatives had reached out to the service provider but have not yet received a response.
Cllr Dunphy told KCLR News; “There’s one, for example, a bus that comes from Carrick-on-Suir, Portlaw and into Waterford and then on to take you to Whitfield Hospital and Waterford Regional Hospital, that bypasses Piltown and Fiddown even though it was put on the timetable and schedule from the first of July, 2024 and no matter how many times we write to Bus Éireann nobody’s coming back and telling us why, why aren’t they adhering to the schedule”.
KCLR has contacted Bus Éireann for comment.
