A team of Carlow students is one of two to win at the Concern debating competition.
The annual event, which this year was online, saw Presentation de la Salle in Bagenalstown declared victors of the Concern Debates Cup.
Captain Stephanie Doyle, Katie Doyle, Dylan O’Neill and Stanislav Ustinov with team researcher Adam Zielinkski were named All-Ireland champions after beating Bailieborough Community School from Cavan after successfully arguing against the motion that “cuts to overseas aid, proposed by the British Government, are unjustifiable and counterproductive.”
Teacher at the local school and debates team mentor, Leon Power, says “We are extremely proud of this amazing team”, adding “They have a natural flair for debating and it was a privilege to see them grow over the year. True champions.”
