Carlow came from 15 points down at half time to within 3 points of Laois at one stage during the second half.
In an interview with KCLR, Carlow manager Brían O’Ruairc gave his thoughts on the game, acknowledging the difficulties his side faced early on.
“I suppose the second quarter kind of got away from us a little bit. I don’t know if there was maybe a bit of last week in the back of their minds. We re-grouped really well at half time, we asked for a reaction, we asked them to work better as a team and they did that”.
Despite these challenges, the Carlow manager acknowledged that his team wasn’t far off and could take plenty of positives from an encouraging second-half performance.
“That second half is what we know we can do. If we can do that for 60 minutes we’ll be there or thereabouts in the next couple of big games we have. We just need to take our learnings and make sure we hit the ground running the next day”.
Carlow will face Louth in the next round of the league, a match that manager Brían O’Ruairc believes his team will be well-prepared for.
“A repeat of the All-Ireland Semi-final and I know the girls have had it circled. We’ll take our two weeks, we’ll make sure we’re ready for it and then the Limerick game the week after that is very important as well”.
