The North Sea dropped in to Studio 2 today to chat and play tracks from their debut album “Anniversary”. The band lineup is: Lee Carr on Bass Guitar, Daragh Murphy on Drums, Eoin Kenny on Vocals with Shane Monaghan and Gary Mackey on guitars.
They’ve been together since 2012 and have a really strong collective personality and this runs through their music. This is a cracking collection of songs and, in a rare and commendable move, was recorded directly on to tape and is recorded almost completely live. It certainly has an energy that is hard to find these days and is a remarkable achievement. It’s also on release on both CD and vinyl and the album is split in to two sides, both thematically and physically on vinyl.
We chatted about the writing and recording of the album and their enthusiasm is infectious. A great start from a great band!
