On the Glanbia Farmshow this week, The Programme For Government was discussed in detail with Pat O’ Toole of the IrishFarmers Journal. Matt also asked Pat about the likely candidates to be Minister for Agriculture in a new government.
Later in the programme Liam Moloney, CEO of the Farm Plastics collection group discussed the success of the farm plastic collection service and told listeners that upwards of 20,000 tonnes of used farm plastic are collected annually.
Aoife Leader is a Teagasc researcher completing an M.Ag in Biodiversity. She told Matt of her work with Kilkenny farmers completing a survey of the levels of biodiversity on farms. Aoife agreed that there are impressive levels of biodiversity in place on farms.
Eric Driver of Tullow Mart and Michael Lynch of Cillin Hill gave comprehensive livestock reports for the past week. Michael added that the Thursday cattle sale, with over 1,000 head of stock was the biggest June sale in recent years.
