Killian Tallis is among the friendly and welcoming team working at Oxfam Ireland’s store on Kilkenny’s High Street.
“I absolutely love it,” said Killian, who has been volunteering with Oxfam in Kilkenny for the past three years.
“I love working here, I love talking to people, I love having lots of conversations and I just love the atmosphere here. I’ve gained a lot of retail and customer experience since I joined Oxfam and the environment in this shop is very nice.”
As the Oxfam website states: “When you come in to the shop you will hear cheerful music, laughter and chat, with the smell of good coffee and well-maintained clothes. We make every effort to be a viable alternative to the high street for the fashion savvy shopper, and offer vintage and designer items thanks to our wonderful customers and local businesses who donate regularly.
“For the avid reader we also have plenty of books ranging from your next holiday read to the rare and collectable, and we make sure there will always be something new for you to discover every time you come in.
“We have a very chatty team who will always be here to help you and inevitably put a smile on your face.”
Killian took time between serving customers to talk to KCLR News about his volunteering life in the heart of Kilkenny – and a recent encounter with a toy parrot!
