Getting down to Business

With the slow reopening of the country, many businesses have failed to reopen their doors.
But we have seen a number of new enterprises come to the fore, among them a first for Ballon with its pharmacy which began to trade on Monday.
It’s been set up by Fadi Almasri, one of the country’s first Syrian refugees, who wanted to give something back.
He’s been telling our Eimear Ní Bhraonáin about it on KCLR Live:
Stand up for Musicians
Entertainers this week decided to voice their opposition to how they feel their industry’s been treated during the pandemic.
Plans were afoot to take to the streets on Wednesday as part of the nationwide protests calling on people to Stand Up For Musicians.
Ahead of that one of the organisers of the Kilkenny City event, Tomás Jackman, spoke to our Eimear Ní Bhraonáin on KCLR Live …
Our Edwina Grace popped down to the gathering on The Parade in Kilkenny City the following day and spoke to some of those taking part.
The report then aired that evening on The Way It Is with Sue Nunn:
Trisha’s Transformation
Edward Hayden spoke to Irish corporate wellness speaker and Chef Trisha Lewis of Trisha’s Transformation about her latest book.
This, her second offering, is called Trisha’s 21-day-reset.

Sport Spot

Preparations are underway at Mount Juliet Estate to host the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open next week, from 1st to 4th July.

Confirmation
We got word in our newsroom on Thursday that there were plans underway for Kilkenny City schools to hold a united Confirmation ceremony and the Diocese of Ossory’s communications office was fast to respond (read about that here).
That evening our Sue Nunn invited Bishop Denis Nulty onto The Way It Is for a longer chat about the event preparations and Government advice re similar – hear that here:
