Covid Continues
The country’s opening up, though not as fast as we would like.
As has been the case quite a bit recently, there was talk early enough of indoor hospitality not reopening on July 5th as had been anticipated.
Ahead of the confirmation, we heard from some business owners in Carlow and Kilkenny on Tuesday’s KCLR Live with Eimear Ní Bhraonáin …
That lunchtime An Taoiseach Micheál Martin addressed the nation, his speech carried on the KCLR News lunchtime bulletin with Sinéad Burke:
Kilkenny City restaurateur and publican Pat Crotty was among those to react to the announcement.
He outlined his views on The Way It Is with Sue Nunn:

Irish Open
The great and the good of the golfing world descended on Kilkenny this week for the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open.
It’s taking place at Mount Juliet Estate until Sunday.

Glanbia Belview
On Friday KCLR News revealed the latest update in Glanbia’s bid to set up a cheese processing plant in Belview, South Kilkenny (Read about that here)
An Taisce told our team that they are considering the judgement with a spokesperson saying they will take legal advice before deciding if they will take their challenge further. (Read An Taisce’s blog on the sequence of events here).

Pride
June was Pride month and we carried a number of news stories and interviews on how the LGBTI+ community are being supported locally.
Sadly, not everything has been positive – last Sunday the crew at Cafe de Mode in Ballon, County Carlow discovered their rainbow-coloured flag in tatters and Eimear Ní Bhraonáin spoke to some on KCLR Live:
