Carlow hurler Fiachra Fitzpatrick has urged supporters to travel in numbers to Croke Park this Saturday as the county bids to capture Joe McDonagh Cup glory.
Pat Bennett’s side take on Laois in the final at GAA headquarters, with throw-in at 3.45pm. Live commentary will be available on KCLR with thanks to June Doran Properties.
Excitement is building across the county ahead of one of Carlow’s biggest games in recent years, with the Barrowsiders looking to cap an impressive campaign by lifting silverware on the national stage.
Speaking to KCLR ahead of the decider, Fitzpatrick said reaching the final has been a target for the squad since the beginning of the season.
“It means everything. We started at the start of the year and although you’re not looking at it straight away, that is the end goal.
“You don’t get this opportunity much, so we’re really looking forward to it.”
The Mount Leinster Rangers man also recalled the incredible support Carlow received during the 2023 Joe McDonagh Cup final against Offaly and is hoping for a similar atmosphere this weekend.
“Three years ago against Offaly, I’ve never played in front of so many Carlow fans. It was unbelievable and it’s something we still speak about.
“We’d ask all Carlow fans to come out if possible at all, their support means everything.”
As anticipation continues to build, KCLR will broadcast a special Joe McDonagh Cup Final preview programme tomorrow evening between 7pm and 8pm, with thanks to Dan Morrissey & Co.
