Graigue Ballycallan’s Ben Mc Evoy says their JJ Kavanagh & Sons Under-21 A Championship triumph arrived at exactly the right time for a club that has endured a difficult season at senior level.
The Sky Blues edged out Dicksboro 1-20 to 2-16 after extra time in a thrilling decider at UPMC Nowlan Park yesterday, securing a much-needed lift for players and supporters alike.
Speaking on the KCLR Hurling Podcast, Mc Evoy said the victory gave the club a huge emotional boost after the disappointment of battling relegation earlier in the year.
“This is well needed for the club… coming off the relegation final and ending the year on a bit of a downer. But to get the club back in spirits — and to look around and see everyone in great form — it’s just an unbelievable day,” he said.
