Students in Kilkenny are celebrating their success at the BT Young Scientist Exhibition with three schools picking up awards last night.
Muireann Greene, Annabel Campion, and Faye De Breit from Coláiste Pobail Osraí, picked up The Road Safety Authority Award for their Red Alert project which created a deterrent to drivers breaking red lights.
CBS Kilkenny were highly commended in the social and behavioural sciences category for Jaysen John and Alfie Byrnes Hidden in Plain Sight: Exploring the Blind Spots of Attention in Young Adolescents project
While Alan Meinderink and Danny Beirne Bowden from Kilkenny College were also highly commended for their Affordable Prosthetic Arm project.
Three sisters from County Kerry are this year’s BT Young Scientists.
17 year old Ciara, 15 year old Saoirse, and 12 year old Laoise Murphy from Presentation Secondary School in Tralee took the top spot at the RDS in Dublin last night.
