The Ballyhale Shamrocks talisman earns the role after leading his club to the Kilkenny county title last year, a success that grants the winning club the right to nominate the county captain for the following season.

Darragh Corcoran has also been named as vice-captain for the 2026 campaign, providing further leadership support within the squad as Kilkenny prepare for the upcoming inter-county season.
