Ukrainian nationals who’ve been residing at a county Carlow property will be contacted in the next fortnight with regards their new moving date.
Just before Christmas those at the former Toughers Bar and Restaurant premises were told that the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth decided to terminate the contract with the provider over concerns around fire safety which could not be quickly remediated.
Following an independent inspection by Carlow County Council it was agreed to temporarily extend the contract to the end of this month on the condition that some new temporary safety conditions on site for the mobile home residences.
A Department spokesperson’s told KCLR News that its Relocations Team will be in touch with those affected in the next two weeks to provide details of the new moving date and the state contracted accommodation that will be provided to those who still need it at the end of January – those involved are free to make their own arrangements.
Meanwhile, the people impacted are gearing up to say ‘thank you’ to the people of Carlow with a special event planned for this Sunday;
