Fighting Cocks came close to AIB Leinster Junior Football glory but were left to rue missed chances after a 1-12 to 1-8 defeat to Grangenolvin in the provincial final.
Trailing at the break, Fighting Cocks produced a second-half response that brought them right back into contention. However, Grangenolvin managed key scores at crucial moments to keep their noses in front and ultimately saw out the win.
Speaking to KCLR after the game, Fighting Cocks management team member Kieran Nolan reflected on how fine the margins were on the day.
“We nearly got there. We were very close in the end. A few small things, a few options taken, it would have made a big difference. We could have gotten it over the line,” Nolan said. “The ball probably fell for them. But we’re devastated over it.”
