Rain caused major disruption to the opening round of the KCLR McCalmont Cup, with just seven of the scheduled fixtures able to go ahead over the weekend.
All matches due to be played on Astroturf surfaces were given the green light, while the remaining ties were postponed.
Despite the reduced programme, there was still plenty of action and goals across the games that did take place. Evergreen B and Southend United both advanced via penalty shoot-outs after draws, while Ormonde Villa, Evergreen A, Freebooters A, Callan United A and Lions A progressed in normal time.
Freshford Town impressed with a convincing 4–0 win away to Lions B, while Freebooters A produced a similarly dominant display, seeing off Thomastown A by four goals to nil. Callan United A were among the most emphatic winners of the round, recording a 5–0 victory over Spa United.
At Evergreen Park, Evergreen A advanced comfortably with a 5–1 win against Stoneyford A, while Ormonde Villa FC also booked their place in the next round thanks to a strong 5–2 win over Thomastown B.
Two fixtures required penalties to separate the sides. Southend United and Highview A played out a thrilling 7–7 draw before Southend edged the shoot-out 5–4. Evergreen B and Evergreen 46 were also level at 3–3 after normal time, with Evergreen B progressing thanks to a 5–4 penalty shoot-out victory.
