We had the wettest May locally since 1993 with twice as much rainfall as normally expected.
The weather station at Oak Park in Carlow had 123.6 millimetres of rain last month, that’s 207% of the long term average.
The temperatures locally were also 1.4 degrees lower than the 30-year mean.
Overall Met Eireann says the month of May was wetter and colder but with more hours of sunshine everywhere in the country compared to the long term averages.
