We’re being warned to brace ourselves for what could be the most significant storm in a lifetime.
The entire country is coming under a ‘danger to life’ warning as the countdown continues to Storm Éowyn.
Met Éireann has issued a red wind alert for all counties from the early hours of tomorrow morning which includes the following for our locality.
Work places are being urged to plan in advance, schools and creches will close, and emergency services are advising motorists to stay off the road.
Both county councils have met and are putting plans in place.
While you should ensure your phones are fully charged, you have water saved and outdoor equipment tied down.

An Post Postal Deliveries and Post Office services for Friday (24th Jan): there will be no postal deliveries or collections for the day, post offices will remain closed during the red warnings but will seek to reopen once safe to do so, subject to local road conditions and power supplies, An Post is planning to run Letter and Parcel deliveries nationwide on Saturday and Post Offices will open as normal from 9am – 1pm, all social welfare benefit payments usually payable at the Post Office on Friday will be available on Saturday and next week, An Post will provide localised customer updates at anpost.com, social media and radio channels during Friday.
