Work’s underway in Callan on the cleaning of the Kings River.
The first phase of the clearing of the eye of the town centre’s bridge began yesterday and continues to Thursday with the stretch closed off to traffic at times.
Phase two will see the removal of the sandunes and shrubbery.
Cllr Joe Lyons says the river water level is recorded on an hourly basis and over the weekend it was at its second lowest level since recordings began.
