Another narrow escape for a mother and daughter from the River Barrow in Carlow yesterday.
Lauren Molloy and her daughter Kayla were in the water near the weir at Knockbeg when Kayla got in trouble.
Lauren was also pulled under by the water coming over the weir when she tried to get to her and both ould have been in danger if it wasn’t for the quick actions of her partner William Doyle.
Lauren’s says she only turned her back on Kayla for a moment and has told KCLR Live of the terrifying realisation that she couldn’t reach her daughter.
Clifford Reid runs boat trips on the Nore and the Barrow and on the same show said everyone needs to take care on the water, even when it looks calm and peaceful and especially near a weir or other feature.
It’s the third, recent river rescue from local waters – more on that here
